Why Local AI Wins in the End

The answer is simple: you will never trust Microsoft, OpenAI, Grok, or any big company to hold all the keys to your business. Your bank passwords, vendor systems, apps - everything that separates total catastrophe from total efficiency. That is exactly what you would be handing over.

Let me make a clear distinction here: I am not talking about the models (Claude vs GPT vs Grok). I am talking about the harnesses - the OpenClaws vs the Copilots vs the Dots and Muses. Those are the actual AI entities. They hold the memories, the skills, the connections, and yes - all those keys. Your choice of harness is what I am talking about.

I have been using many models for many different tasks: coding, documents, brainstorming, you name it. They all have strengths and weaknesses. But the harness - that is the thing that matters. It contains the memory of all your interactions, and it is the thing that actually does things. That is the part I want to keep close, because the harness is what stays with you. It is the body of your AI. The model is the brain - the harness is the body.

Would you hire a temp from Microsoft, Facebook, OpenAI or Google, and hand that temp your bank routing number, credit card number and every password you own? I would not. I already have a hard time giving lesser credentials to the bot running on my own desk - the one I built and control myself. Handing all of that to a big company that does not even know I exist? Out of the question - and that is just for my personal stuff, things that only affect me. What about the things that affect your employees, their livelihoods, your vendors, your customers?

So no - I am not talking about models. Models are a commodity now. They will keep getting cheaper and matter less over time. It is the harness that owns everything that matters. That thing I want to be mine - and stay mine.
